Owner: Fritz Heller & Dr. Kari Young - Traverse City, MI
DOB: 5/23/2011
OFA Hips Good, OFA Elbows Normal, OFA Eyes Cerf, EIC Carrier Non Affected.
Betsie River’s May’d in the Gravel “May” was pick of the litter in our breeding between our foundation Stud and Dam Jones X Bella. Over the course of her life May has demonstrated abilities passed down by both Jones and Bella, she is a compact well built dog that shares her sires excellent conformation, May has a smooth flowing gate in the open and agility and grace in the woods, she has ideal conformation leading to excellent endurance and durability. May developed fast as a wild bird dog, handling a few grouse her puppy season in the fall of 2011, and developing into a consistent wild bird dog in 2012, displaying her talent on Great Lakes Grouse, South Dakota Pheasants and at Ruffed Grouse Society Gun Dog Trials. In May of 2012 May won a Regional RGS trial in Traverse City followed up her win in November by being named the youngest State of Michigan Gun Dog of the Year ever, taking the title against a solid field of spaniels and retrievers. In 2013 May was not entered in any trials and her focus became wild birds, she developed into a solid, birdie, dynamic bird dog in her second full season. May came back to the trial circuit in 2014 qualifying for the RGS Gun Dog of the year event in May and took home the big cup again in November becoming a two time Michigan State Gun Dog of the Year Champion! Ric and Fritz have had the opportunity to not only evaluate May but also her littermates, what a litter it was, consistent performance amongst the entire litter, we are tentatively planning a litter with May sometime in 2015 or 2016

Bella's Betsie River Red Bomber "Bella"
Owner: Fritz Heller & Dr. Kari Young - Traverse City, MI
DOB: 1/14/2005
OFA Hips Good, OFA Elbows Normal, OFA Eyes Cerf, EIC Carrier Non Affected.
Bella is nothing short of a first class wild bird dog. From 8 week old fun walks to the last day of 2011 season, her life has revolved around "the woods." For the past 7 seasons her 50lbs of red furry has averaged 65 days a year hunting wild birds, not including training & scouting runs in the off season. She lives and breaths Ruffed Grouse. Bella in our opinion has the right balance of size, athleticism, bird finding ability, and conformation. Besides flat out producing birds she is very nice looking. Bella has been a shinning star on the State of Michigan Ruffed Grouse Society Fun Trial Circuit winning the Gun Dog of the Year titles in 2007 and again in 2011, developing a nice following around the state. She has been the featured dog in a number of Articles by Michigan Columnist Bob Gwizdz. Bella has had the great fortune to retrieve wild game birds in Michigan, North Dakota, Kansas, and Iowa, beside being a Ruffed Grouse Specialist she has extensive pheasant experience, including mixed bag opportunities on Sharp-tail Grouse, Prairie Chickens, Huns, and Bobwhite Quail.
